Our prices

Everything we charge is on this page

You can read it before you speak to us, and we'd rather you did. Nobody should have to ask what a funeral costs while sitting in a room with a stranger, and nobody should find out what something costs when the invoice arrives.

If money is a worry

Say so at the start rather than the end.

It is one of the most common worries there is, there is nothing embarrassing about it, and there is usually more that can be done than families expect. The DWP Funeral Expenses Payment may help if you're on certain benefits, and we can talk you through what a simpler funeral would look like.

Tell us early and we'll find a way. Tell us late and there's less we can do.

Required of every funeral director

Standardised Price List

Every funeral director in the UK is required to publish this, in the same format, so that families can compare firms properly. Ours is below.

The crematorium or burial ground fee is not included in the attended funeral figure. That fee, and the minister or officiant, are paid to others on your behalf and we pass them on at cost. They are set out further down this page.

ItemPrice
Attended funeral — a funeral where family and friends attend a service
Includes collection and care of the person who has died, arrangements, a coffin, a hearse to the service, and the funeral director's staff on the day
£3,295
Unattended funeral — a burial or cremation without a service£1,595
Additional cost of a burial, excluding the cost of the grave and the interment fee£150
Additional cost of a cremation, including the cremation fee£1,260
Fees you may need to pay to others — crematorium, burial ground, minister or celebrant, doctors' fees where applicableVaries

The same figures, in the format the CMA requires, for printing or comparing side by side.

Additional Options Price List

The Standardised Price List covers an attended funeral, an unattended funeral and the fees we pay to others on your behalf. This one covers everything else you might choose to add — a limousine, embalming, an organist, a visual tribute, service sheets, a coffin other than the plain one, and the burial charges.

Nothing on it is required, and nothing on it is already included in the standardised prices. Webcasting is charged by the crematorium rather than by us, so it sits with the fees we pass on at cost.

Our business interests

The CMA requires us to tell you if we have a financial interest in any other business you might be referred to, or if anyone has a financial interest in us.

Will Case Limited has no financial interest in any crematorium, cemetery, burial ground or related business, and we receive no commission or payment of any kind for referring families to anyone. Where we recommend a florist, a monumental mason or a caterer, it is because we have found them reliable — not because we are paid to.

No third party holds a financial interest in Will Case Limited.

Paying for a funeral in advance

If you'd rather arrange and pay for a funeral before it's needed, we offer pre-paid funeral plans.

Fees paid on your behalf

Fees we pay to others for you

Some of what you pay isn't ours. Crematorium and burial fees are set by the crematorium or the local council, ministers and celebrants set their own fees, and we pass those on at cost, without adding anything to them.

Burial fees

Questions families ask

About paying

Why are your prices on the website?

Because you shouldn't have to ask. Every funeral director is required to publish a standardised price list so families can compare properly, and we'd rather you read ours before you contact us at all.

What if I can't afford a funeral?

Tell us at the start rather than the end. The DWP Funeral Expenses Payment may help if you're on certain benefits, and there is usually more that can be done than families expect — but only if we know early.

When do I have to pay?

There is no deposit to find before the funeral. We send the account afterwards, and it is due within 28 days of the date on it. We accept bank transfer (Bacs) or cheque.

Fees we pay to others on your behalf can only be an estimate until they are invoiced to us, so the final account shows what was actually charged rather than what we expected.

We do not charge interest on a late account and we do not use a debt collection agency. If paying is going to be difficult, tell us early rather than late — there is usually more that can be done than families expect, and almost all of it has to be done before the funeral.

Are there costs that aren't on this page?

Fees paid to others — the crematorium, the burial ground, a minister or celebrant — are set by them rather than by us. We'll tell you exactly what they are before you commit to anything.

Do you add anything to those fees?

No. Crematorium, burial and minister's fees are passed on at cost.
