We're here to help
Looking after families across Wiltshire and Hampshire, at any hour of the day or night.
If someone has died and you're not sure what to do next, ring us. There is no wrong time to call.
We are an independent, family firm. We are not part of a national group, and we never have been.
That means the person who answers the phone at 2am in the morning is integral to the team who will arrange the funeral, walk in front of the hearse, and still be here in a year if you want to talk about a headstone. There is no call centre, no regional office, and nobody reading from a script.
We have been looking after families in Salisbury, Amesbury and the villages around them for over a hundred years — the same idea, carried by the same name.
Ring us, at any hour of the day or night, every day of the year.
It will be one of us — Lucy or Denice in the day, and Alan at night — not an answering service.
There's nothing you need to have ready, and nothing you need to know beforehand.
Four things families ask us for
-
A funeral with a service
A burial or cremation with family and friends there, at a church, a crematorium or a graveside. Arranged around the person who died, not around a template.
Funeral services -
Direct cremation
A cremation without a service, from £1,595. Increasingly what families choose — sometimes because it's simpler, sometimes because the person who died asked for it.
Direct cremation -
Funeral plans
Paying for a funeral in advance, so that it's arranged and paid for before it's needed.

You can read them before you contact us at all, and we'd rather you did.
Nobody should have to ask what a funeral costs while sitting in a room with a stranger.
If money is a worry, please say so early rather than late. It's a common worry, there's nothing embarrassing about it, and there is usually more that can be done than families expect. The DWP may also be able to help.
The name over the door
The firm carries the name of Will Case and his daughter, Mary Case MBE, who together with Sheila Dicks founded the Salisbury College of Funeral Sciences — a training school with a reputation that reached well beyond Wiltshire.
What they built it on was straightforward: that a funeral director needs proper training and real skill, and that being allowed into a family's life at that moment is a privilege rather than a transaction.
That hasn't changed.
"The small things such as knocking the door of the chapel of rest before she entered to light candles meant an awful lot to us."
Mrs E, Landford
Before you ring
Do I have to ring straight away?
No. Almost nothing has to happen tonight. If the death was expected and at home, ring the GP surgery first; if it was sudden, ring 999. After that, ring us whenever you're ready — including at three in the morning if that's when you're awake.
How much does a funeral cost?
Our prices are published in full on this website, and our direct cremation is £1,595. What a funeral with a service costs depends on the choices you make, and we'll tell you what each one costs as we go.
Do you cover my area?
We look after families across Salisbury, Amesbury, Ludgershall, Tidworth, Durrington, Bulford, Larkhill and the villages around them — anywhere within twenty miles without a mileage charge, and further afield when we're asked to. See the map.
Are you part of a larger group?
No. We're independent, and we always have been. The person who answers the phone is the person who'll arrange the funeral.
